Sisters, brothers & thread lovers I hope you’re all damn good and thanks for dropping by the @clobbercalm 10@10. Every Thursday at 10pm (GMT) we release a new feature solely focused on a dude that dresses incredibly well and shares his love for his cloth on Instagram.
And of course this week is no different.
So folks meet Drew, aka @everydaydrew, a gent who has been extremely generous with his availability and took time out of a busy schedule to tell us a little more about the passion he has for menswear…more than an IG feed can!
MEET THE MAN BEHIND THE MENSWEAR
NAME: Drew Westphal aka @everydaydrew
LOCATION: Milwaukee, WI
OCCUPATION: Menswear Blogger
1. So Why Instagram?
Instagram is a fantastic platform to share things I like with people all around the world with similar interests.
2. Why Denim, Boots, Workwear, Ruggedness?
Growing up in the heart of the Midwest, denim and boots have always felt like a little piece of home to me. They’re easy to wear and I feel most comfortable in them. I like to mix a lot of things into my personal style, but I always find myself going back to some form of Japanese, French and American workwear.
3. What are your thoughts on the rise in popularity of “Instafashion” and the community it is creating?
It’s a great way to bring people together and meet other like-minded folks. I’ve had nothing but good experiences meeting other fashion guys from Instagram. It’s opened a lot of doors for me and I have Instagram to thank for that.
4. Top 3 brands to shop and why?
Beams Plus – I honestly don’t own that many items from Beams, but all of their fabrics are so unique and the fit is spot on for me.
RRL – This brand speaks for itself.
Raleigh Denim – My favorite denim brand that make their own denim by hand in downtown Raleigh. Also, I love the people behind the brand which makes it even better for me.
5. Where’s your favourite place to shop these brands
Milworks – I mostly shop online. However, there is a brand new men’s goods store here in Milwaukee, WI. I’ve waited my whole life for a store that sells stuff that I love, now, it’s right in my back yard!
6. When did you decide to voice and share your love for your clobber on social media?
I’ve been doing this Instagram thing for about 3 years now. It was actually thanks to meeting up with some fellow ‘grammers in Minneapolis that inspired me to keep creating content.
7. What’s the secret behind your great images; Who takes them? When are they taken? How do you capture the magic your followers enjoy so much?
I take all of my own photos unless credited. I take my shots on a DSLR with a 50mm 1.8 lens and edit in Lightroom and VSCO.
8. What feeds do you like to follow and check in on? Who should we check out?
9. What tips would you give new starter on instagram to help them get there feed off the ground and successful?
Make sure you have good lighting, natural cloudy lighting is ideal. Post regularly and have fun with it!
10. And Lucky Last, You’re going to be stranded on a desert island and you can take 1 outfit (4 items) Only with you.
What would they be? And Why?
Redwing Iron Rangers, Taylor Stitch Natural Selvedge Canvas Chore Pants, Velva Sheen Pocket T and Rogue Territory Denim Jacket (this is my current uniform you’ll find me in)
Last week I briefly mentioned a new feature that will be dropping on the site Monday evenings called “THE BRANDS BEHIND MENSWEAR”. To quickly update, we are busy working behind the scenes to bring this to your backlit screens and some of the most popular menswear/denim brands out there have been super helpful, offering their time to the project. We are confident we will have the first feature ready to fire out in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
In the meantime next weeks’ “THE MEN BEHIND MENSWEAR” is Clement aka @craftedparis. Based in Paris, his passion for denim, workwear and indigo stands out a mile. Take a peek at his feed if you haven’t already and you’ll know exactly what I mean.
Keep close peeps and I will keep you updated on all the above throughout the week!
Have a top weekend folks.
