Hej och god kväll.
I hope the week is treating you stellar and you have had the chance to enjoy a beer or two?! I’m doing the Coors Light this week, trying to cut back on the calories a little post-Christmas. Oh and I got it cheap as it goes out of date this month 😀
How are we going to follow Monday’s feature on European Raw Denim brand @companiondenim? Well it’s pretty straight forward, we’re going to chat to a European Raw Denim head who goes by the name @redrawdenim. Yeah, it really is that straight forward…
Swedish based Daniel Bergman holds an IG account that does not take long to understand and this is very much it’s strength. There is no ifs and/or buts when it comes to @redrawdenim, it’s a pure Raw Denim & Red Wing smorgasbord. Daniel’s account is a credit to Nudie in my opinion, packed with images that shows off the @nudiejeans product at their best with each fit looking perfect. Yes, Daniel has one of those tall slim frames that makes everything he wears look as good as it does on the store hanger but still “Nudie?” I’m calling you out, you owe this chap a beer or two!
MEET THE MAN BEHIND THE MENSWEAR
NAME: Daniel aka @redrawdenim
LOCATION: Gävle, Sweden
OCCUPATION: Working with autoparts and accessories for Volvo at a local dealer.
1. So Why Instagram?
First I was sceptical about the whole IG-thing , why – we have Facebook. Nowadays I don’t even have Facebook, so things change. I also have my personal IG-account but in the middle of 2015 I thought it was time for me to start what today is @redrawdenim – denim, boots and accessories.
2. Why Denim, Boots, Workwear, Ruggedness?
I´ve always had a great interest for denim and boots. I remember when I was a kid and my father had his old army boots in the basement – I loved them. I share the common interest of jeans with my wife who even had her own store for jeans in the mid 2000. During the years the fascination for denim, boots and so on just got bigger.
3. What are your thoughts on the rise in popularity of “Instafashion” and the community it is creating?
As long as things don’t get out-of-hand I like to think that I have gained new “friends” thanks to it, just because of a common interest and/or hobby. I never get too personal, for example I never expose my face and try to keep things simple, yet in a way that make You interested to like or follow my account.
4. Top 3 brands to shop and why?
Since my wife had the store I have always been kind of faithful to the Swedish brand Nudie Jeans. A sustainable brand that always make their products in 100% ECO-fabrics. I like to visit their repair shops when its time for something new, but their web shop is the place that I often visit. Then there is of course the Red Wing Shoes and Dr Martens that I never seam to get enough of. Other brands that I like are Eat Dust, Lee and Swedish brand The Blue Uniform.
5. Where’s your favourite place to shop these brands?
6. When did you decide to voice and share your love for your clobber on social media?
In the middle of 2015.
7. What’s the secret behind your great images; Who takes them? When are they taken? How do you capture the magic your followers enjoy so much?
I most often take my own pictures and I take them when I feel the moment is right. I try to post a couple of pics every week. Not much of a photographer and sometimes I wonder how “the likes” even drops in.
8. What feeds do you like to follow and check in on? Who should we check out?
I thinks it’s more fun to follow personal accounts before big brands accounts, not that I don’t do that but I feel that to see what accounts similar to mine does is more my thing. Don’t miss to check out for example @andreasbergstrom83, @sennah0j, @imstone, @bvo_66 to name a few.
9. What tips would you give new starters on Instagram to help them get there feed off the ground and successful?
Keep it simple, be yourself, don’t try too much and just do it for yourself mainly – if someone else likes it, what a bonus that is!
10. And Lucky Last, You’re going to be stranded on a desert island and you can take 1 outfit (4 items) Only with you.
What would they be? And Why?
Stranded on an island…hmm…well of course this: a great pair of jeans, a nice t-shirt and a pair of boots that will last forever. When it gets cold, why not a denim jacket. In my case I would take my Nudie Jeans, Lee 101 jacket, the Iron Rangers and just a plain black t-shirt.
Thanks Daniel buddy, you took the time for us here at @clobbercalm and for that we thank you boss. You’re a Top Gun and it’s been a pleasure meeting and getting to know you…keep up the good work! We’re looking forward to seeing what 2017 brings from @redrawdenim 🍻
