@tcbinoue answers the 10@10

Hello people.

Happy Monday/start to the week depending on when you have dropped in to see us?

You should know by now that Monday is all about the Brands here @clobbercalm. The Brands we follow, the Brands we wear, the Brands we are just discovering and the Brands that are so hidden and unique you have to stop by just so we can tell you they exist…

This week we have had a little bit of a shuffle, I have been in talks with Adam from @aldenofcarmel and we thought we might have, just about, crossed the T’s and dotted the I’s by this evening but one thing has led to another and although the Alden feature is looking great it still wasn’t quite ready for this evening! That’s a good sign though as lest we forget it means that these Brands are busy and that is something we can all agree is on point and what we, in our humbling niche community, like to hear!

What that has done is effectively made next week THIS week now which is good as it puts us back on the denim track and, whats more, gives us an opportunity once again to focus on true Japanese Raw Selvedge Denim. This week we speak to Hajime from TCB Co. Ltd aka @tcbinoue based in Kojima Okayama Japan. Hajime grew up surrounded by fabrics and from a very young age worked with masters of the tailoring craft until in 2008 he cemented his own reputation, as an expert, by creating TCB Co. Ltd.

Now the reading is not as easy as our past articles as Hajime said from the get go that his English isn’t great which is completely cool with me as it’s a shit load better than my Japanese! We have altered the wording in places to improve the feature but in general it is as we received it, I think this only adds to the charm of the article.

It’s been a pleasure getting to know Hajime and I hope you enjoy getting to know him too. Guys it’s time to sit back, relax, crack open a beer (maybe a Sapporo in it’s wonderful pint shaped tin?) and enjoy the thoughts of Hajime as @tcbinoue answers the @clobbercalm 10@10.

NAME: Hajime Inoue
POSITION: CEO
COMPANY: TCB Co. Ltd
ESTABLISHED: 2008
LOCATION: Kojima Okayama Japan
SIZE OF TEAM: 14
SPECIALITY/COMPANY FOCUS: Jeans garment factory

1. Straight forward, please tell us, how did your company TCB Co. Ltd start out?

I don’t have any experience working at other brands. When I was in my teens, I worked as a salesperson in a tailors. I was handing wonderful of the person who makes jeans (craftsman) down to a customer. I was to do daily service repeatedly, and charm to a craftsman and admiration were full.

In 2000, I moved to Kojima of Okayama-ken at twenty years old and worked for a sewing factory. I started TCB as a sewing factory in 2008.

2. Tell us. What does a day in the life of you look like? What’s your daily work routine?

I am in front of the sewing machine every day…

3. What are your top 3 bestselling items? Why do you think this is?

1). TCB50’S JK

If you think that, to be correct in any style, canceling the shortness of the length that is the fault of old clothes, please try on the jacket of TCBjeans without being deep, and thinking about matching. I love the setup of the top and bottom denim.

2). TCB50’s PT

I yearn for most 50s of jeans. Silhouette is a classic, but also they match any kind of coordination.

3). SEAMEN JK

I like the military, too but the military are battle clothes, so I put on only the simple design which rather dissolves in present-day daily life.

4. What’s your personal favourite garment when it comes to the items you manufacture?

Of course, JEANS!

5. What are your thoughts on the rise of Instagram fashion and the chaps that post their clothing on there to help spread the word of their fave brands?

I’ll show you that you are to important to you. I want to introduce the landscape of the unique factory and the jeans me and my fellows make.

6. Has it made an impact on your business at all, do you think?

YES!

7. Is there any feeds on IG that you particularly like to check-in on regular. What brands are you fond of on there? What menswear feeds to you like to peruse?

It is just vintage to check, even now…

8. A quick one about you. Other than the business, what passions do you have in life? What flicks your switch and helps you relax?

Holidays, I love to go to vintage stores or bicycle around the neighbourhood. It is also good to play with the cat.

9. What do you consider to be the best thing about your business and why?

We started in 2008 as a sewing factory. The manufacturing, handled from planning to production, selling by small scale is unusual in Japan, I think. It’s said that they can produce the features of our item more deeply by studying the design and used clothing, focusing on the background and age and sewing personally by ones self. We find an old sewing machine made in America (Union Special, Singer, Reece etc), use them appropriately using the feature every item and produce for it. We’d like to investigate and work one item out to the place, it’s difficult to keep an eye on which by outside order production like other manufacturers.

10. And Lucky Last, You’re going to be stranded on a desert island and you can take 1 outfit (4 items) only with you. And 1 choice of drink.

What would they be? And Why?

I would choose a drink because life has not been enhanced and clothes do not shine. When you spend time with loved ones, it shines clothes.

It’s been a pleasure having you here @clobbercalm Hajime, your interest in vintage is great! I could have probably made question 10 a little clearer for you as simply a bottle of water may not cut the mustard! Don’t fear though as the other guys have took stacks of badass threads so I’m sure we can sort you out brother. Good luck for the future Hajime and hopefully we will get the opportunity to speak again soon.

What else we got for you all this week? Well, Thursday sees us catch up with another ‘Man Behind the Menswear’ for the 26th Jan and to end the week we will be sending live the first review of our project; @threads.and.fades.2017 which I’m sure will represent the calm before the storm, as a review that sits on 28 days wear is only the tip of the iceberg for this project. It should be great all the same!

Have a tip top week folks and stay close, below is a few thing listed FYI…
