Yo yo yo people.

Ok, so as you know this week we here at @clobbercalm HQ (the cooking island in my kitchen) have focussed both our 10@10’s on the boys over at @cultizm. A @clobbercalm week of Cultizm.

This site has so many options when it comes to Denim heads looking for a fix and I was intrigued to find out how it all began? What the team over there are like and most importantly their personal thoughts on RAW F*CKING DENIM. 😉

Monday saw us speak to Dejan the CEO of Cultizm who started his Raw Denim retail website (that’s now very global) in his garage and has grown it to what we know and use today. (Thanks Dejan, Monday was great!)

Tonight it’s not about Dejan, it’s about Daniel the Marketing Manager over at Cultizm. Daniel, @slemdunk is surrounded by Raw Denim and Brands every day of his life, his entire living is committed to getting the Raw Denim word out there to everybody and anybody who will listen. He’s a blue blooded soldier and a lovely stellar fella to know!

MEET THE MAN (AND THE DOG) BEHIND THE MENSWEAR

1. So Why Instagram?

Instagram is the place to be. It’s a gift for fashion addicted people and of course brands. The IG structure and philosophy allows brands and people equally to express themselves and spread it to the world.

2. Why Denim, Boots, Workwear, Ruggedness?

Let me quote a section of the “Raw Bible” Book.

“Manufacturing is the transformation of raw materials into finished goods. Raw is an expression of dedication, of seeking the best way to craft a product. It is looking back on how the previous generation used to do it, while simultaneously looking forward and asking, what from the past can be adopted to improve the craft today.”

All this is rooted in our DNA and is our imagination of good, sustainable and fair produced goods.

3. What are your thoughts on the rise in popularity of “Instafashion” and the community it is creating?

It is our aspiration and also our responsibility to be open for new ways. Cultizm’s continuous development is our matter of the heart. Instagram and fashion fit together wonderfully. This channel makes it easy to create new ideas and get in contact with people and our customers. People have the opportunity to share their styles and combinations with others. Opinions, recommendations and suggestions are important indicators that can help us all. Whether brands or customers, it benefits to everyone involved.

6. When did you decide to voice and share your love for your clobber on social media?

Cultizm quickly understood the business. From the beginning, we were aware that social media is a powerful multiplier to present our products. Facebook was one of the first platforms on which we were active. Very quickly Cultizm added Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and Pinterest. Recently, we spend a lot of time on Reddit. The Raw Denim Community is very strong on Reddit and we have the possibility to respond to specific questions about products and news.

7. What’s the secret behind your great images; Who takes them? When are they taken? How do you capture the magic your followers enjoy so much?

We think that to make great photographs, the most essential thing to do is to stand in front of interesting stuff. This sounds so mundane but it’s true. We have really interesting and visually appealing clothes and also set a high value on the location of our office to be able to give our photo shootings fitting backgrounds. Our office is located in a living and breathing area in Münster, Germany, surrounded by old factories and a harbour. This enables us to capture the spirit and energy of a lot of brands in a great way.

Our photos are taken by our graphic team that is staffed with multiple graphic girls and dudes.

Generally we try to shoot new products or collections as soon as possible. Most of the time this means a couple of days before the new stuff goes online.

Sometimes our CEO Dejan grabs the camera and makes squares in their own way. This is relict of old Cultizm times when Dejan took all photos by himself.

9. What tips would you give new starters on Instagram to help them get there feed off the ground and successful?

Be sure to be authentic. Post on regular intervals and have fun to be part of the community. Be open-minded and trust yourself to break new ground. Fortunately, we’re working in a digital environment and if mistakes happen or posts do not work, we can make it better on the next one.

Well Daniel what a great end to a great week of 10@10’s. It’s been a pleasure getting to know the company @cultizm and I have no doubt you and I will be speaking again sometime soon?!

Now, Project @threads.and.fades.2017 is another month older. The @shockoe_atelier Kojima jeans are pushing days’ well into the 50’s and still going strong. This Saturday sees us spill the beans on update #2 as the boys tell us where the denim has been and what it’s been up to?
