@craigfrombuffalo answers the 10@10

Hello people.

I’m going to keep this short & sweet guys so here goes…

With me being stateside I thought it’d be as good a time as any to have our first US based ‘Man Behind…’ for a long time as @craigfrombuffalo is the feature this week.

Craig’s feed is full of proverbial nectar for us likeminded folk. Bursting with PBJ, RGT, Red Wing & Chup it’s a who’s who of what makes us tick so I think I’ll just hand the keys over to him and let him drive.

So folks sit back, relax, crack open a beer and enjoy the thoughts of Craig as @craigfrombuffalo answers the @clobbercalm 10@10.

MEET THE MAN BEHIND THE MENSWEAR

NAME: Craig aka @craigfrombuffalo
AGE: 33
LOCATION: Buffalo, NY
OCCUPATION: New York State Investigator

1. So Why Instagram?

IG gives people a fast and efficient way to upload photos seamlessly. Easy and simple interface.

2. Why Denim, Boots, Workwear, Ruggedness?

Pairing boots, socks and shirts are a favorite past time of mine. Selvedge denim varies so much from person to person. From the way they wear their key clip to wallet size to phone size and it shows in the denim overtime. How cool is that? The durability and look of Red Wings appeal to me. Their new vibram sole is the greatest thing. The Iron Ranger line are my everything. I usually have to wear ties and slacks to work. Work shirts from Rogue Territory allows me to layer over a button down work shirt and tie. It also gives the entire outfit a more rugged look, but still keeps it sharp.

3. What are your thoughts on the rise in popularity of “Instafashion” and the community it is creating?

I love it. Absolutely love it. I catch myself looking at women’s fashion through hashtags and I’m like, ‘dang, that’s dope.’ With the rise of popularity brings about so many different individuals to Instafashion – male or female – which is great. Every person has their own style and I love that. Everyone sees things their own way. For instance, @raw.denim, Micky, has his totally own style with his cuffs. They’re sloppy and disproportionate and I love it. It works for his wears.

4. Top 3 brands to shop and why?

Pure Blue Japan – Every time they drop a new pair of denim it’s completely different from their last. Current favorite pair: KS-013-WID.

Rogue Territory – Their shirts fit me perfect. I love, love, love their work shirts. Their fades are second to none.

Chup – Vibrant colors and designs. Unique. Made with a ton of TLC and they don’t fall down!

5. Where’s your favourite place to shop these brands?

Sadly, Buffalo lacks a store to buy all the great brands said and unsaid. I shop online at Snake Oil Provisions in Long Beach, CA & Okayama Denim in Okayama, Japan. Ben and Miranda are awesome owners. They ship items fast and always answers all my questions in terms of sizing. They get back to you super fast at all times. Okayama Denim crew makes it feel like I’m talking to old friends from 10 years ago. If that doesn’t tell you something I don’t know what does.

6. When did you decide to voice and share your love for your clobber on social media?

I’d say about a year ago. It was about sharing the look with others that appreciate it as much as you do. When my friends are like, “Man, I like that,” or “Dude, I like that look.” I have nothing but love and appreciation for them.

7. What’s the secret behind your great images; Who takes them? When are they taken? How do you capture the magic your followers enjoy so much?

I usually use a self-timer, but sometimes I have friends take the photos. I always take them during the day time. I’m trying to push the backgrounds in terms of color and contrast. Buffalo is filled with some really cool spots to photograph.

8. What feeds do you like to follow and check in on? Who should we check out?

Woooooo, this is tough. There’s a ton I view daily. A few I really enjoy: My dude Victor @selvedge1 – His photos are amazing. He’s a solid dude and has a great look // @jjayhawks Jay Hawks – He’s into SOP and RGT. He has a great look and I really like how simplistic his photos are, but he always captures his outfits perfectly // @outlinedcloth Devin – His shots are awesome. Makes me want to push the limits. Super solid style and always pairs his pants / boots nicely. He and his lady have some nice fashion couple shots, which I think is great. Who wouldn’t want a nice lady into fashion as much as you’re into it // @bvo_66 Bert – This dude has some of the best honey combs in the game. Love his feed. He’s also a big Red Wing Iron Ranger fan // @jaesungxlee Jaesung Lee – His outfits are always on point. I feel like he wakes up and walks into his a closet as big as a tiny house and just casually throws one of his 5,000 outfits. Love it. He’s also into cool music so it’s a twofer // @johanmalik80 Johan Malik – I like his feed quite a bit. Always super on point with the denim wear. There’s so many more I could list.

9. What tips would you give new starters on Instagram to help them get there feed off the ground and successful?

Have fun! What inspires you? What look are you going for? ISC Shirt with a rolled up sleeve? Low cuffs, high cuffs, pushed down socks, raised up socks, two buttons done, 3 middle – I mean, there’s so many fun variations with clothing, right? Truly, when you think about it. You make it your own. Whatever you wear just own it. It’s you, it’s your look. If you’re into that’s all that matters at the end of the day.

10. And Lucky Last, You’re going to be stranded on a desert island and you can take 1 outfit (4 items) Only with you.

What would they be? And Why?

Iron Rangers Mule Skinners – I don’t have the vibram sole edition so the sand wouldn’t affect them ; )

PBJ KS-013-WID – I want to see the wears on these overtime and what better place to wear the life out of them.

RGT ISC Work Shirt – They look great with the PBJs and it’ll keep me warm at night.

Chup Socks – Wear them at night to keep me warm and during the hot days I’ll wear one as a bandana and I’ll use the other to catch fish.

Awesome Craig! Love the utilitarianism endeavour shown with the sock logic on the island. I imagine thinking of dressing for a hot desert island is miles away from your current thought-process judging by the snow on your feed recently?! It actually evokes fond memories, for me, of watching Jim Kelly throwing tight spirals against a crisp white Buffalo blanket of snow on old NFL highlights shows. Thanks for THAT and for taking the time out to humour us here @clobbercalm. Always a pleasure to gain the insight + time of a fellow denim/boots/socks enthusiast.

Project @threads.and.fades.2017 is still going strong and you can read about THE jeans’ February adventures HERE. The @shockoe_atelier Kojima jeans are pushing days’ well into the 50’s and still going strong so they deserve 10 minutes of your time to hear their stories.
