@fadedblueeyes pins @kentaurus_denim…

Hello people.

A few months back we decided to start a new mission here @clobbercalm HQ (the island in my kitchen)…the mission; to create ‘The Denim Map’. A map that, no matter where your travels takes you, will mean that you’re always able to find the local store stocking badass denim/boots/leather and anything else that’s cool!

Now it’s obvious we can’t do this alone and, also, that would be a little tedious and boring so instead we invite YOU guys to help us build the map! Your words! Your thoughts! Your local store! This project is about #teamdenimworldwide. It’s picking up steam over here @clobbercalm with regards the ‘Denim Map’ and the race to 10 pins is on as, all-round, indigo-donned, cool cat Jim aka @fadedblueeyes “pins” next. To follow on the project, Jim has chosen to make, one of his local haunts in Cologne, Germany, @kentaurus_denimshop officially the fifth pin!

So, let’s go as @fadedblueeyes pins @kentaurus_denimshop to The Denim Map.

1. How did the store come to life? What’s the history?

Stefan Laskowski who actually is an artist/painter started roundabout ten years ago to sell Aero leather Jackets. As he was always interested in wearing them as a moto guzzi driver. After that he decided that there must be someone who is selling clothes which you usually see in old famous movies like ‘The Wild Ones’ with Marlon Brando or other Spaghetti Western movies. So after a few years selling Aero Jackets, Schuh Bertl Boots and Nigel Cabourn he got his first pairs of Atelier La Durance, Pike Brothers, Momotaro and Iron Heart Denim.

As the love and the brand range increased he became a perfect offer to own the old gallery 50m down the same road.

In that time we already became buisness partners and Friends.

So we decided to give it a try…keeping the old Shop in no. 4. And having a new one in no.16.

After one year switching stuff. Stefan decided to move in the new shop to have most of the brands over there. I’ve started with the first Iron Heart pop-up shop in the old shop and it worked quiet well. That makes us drive all the fantastic denim brands, like Stevonson, Blue Blanket, Scarti Lab, Iron Heart etc…we had in No 4 and here it is…the only denimshop with such a huge range of brands that exists around Cologne.

4. In your personal opinion what’s the best 3 pieces that you offer? Your favourites?

Iron Heart 21oz denim

Because I love it to see how happy and fascinated customers are when they wear them for the first time. But it is not easy answer! It always depends on the customer. I love everything I have in shop – because I buy them and I know my customers. So right now I am really big time in love with the upcoming women collection of Scarti Lab. Melissa and Tony always do a great and amazing job!

5. What the best thing about working at Kentaurus?

To do what I love to do! Having a boss who trust in me, my work and my personality. ❤️

1. How does the store feel when you first walk in? What springs to mind?

Walking in to the Denim Shop your eyes can’t stop darting from one thing to the next. The second thing you get the aroma of is Japanese Denim and the senses are alive. Next, you want to start touching everything in the shop. In a relatively small shop there are so many brands represented. Don’t worry though, it’s very full but easy to read and inviting. One of my favorite places to buy my dry Denim!

2. Where does the shop’s product originate from?

The selection is varied and presents the best of all worlds. Offering Denim made in Europe, America and Japan you will definitely find something for everyone here!

3. Describe the customer service?

Top Notch!! Sena knows her shit when it come to all things jeans and has an eye for what’s hot and what suits the individual needs.

4. What’s the product selection like?

As I’ve already stated the selection is wide ranging but concentrates mainly on Iron Heart Denim, Stevenson Overall and Levi’s Vintage.

5. How are the prices?

I think we all know what a pair of Iron Heart jeans cost…lol! The prices here are in line with what we have all become accustomed to over the years. For me it seems to follow the old adage; “You get what you pay for.”!

~ Notes ~

If you’re a jeans freak (like I suspect you are), and happen to be visiting Cologne, Germany then Kentaraus Denim Shop and Kentaraus Sr. are a must see!
