Good evening folks.
Hope everything is fine and dandy with all you mad cats? I've just got back from "slumming" it in Landan and I'm currently sipping on a cup of Yorkshire to reacclimatise to PNT (Proper Northern Time)!
So, all systems go here at clobbsy HQ tonight as we gear up for, not ONE but, TWO events in store this weekend. We've already touched on the Trickers event (tomorrow night) with Monday's and Tuesday's blogs but tonight we lay focus on our Saturday all day social...
...as we introduce the first ever 'CLOBBER-CALM Rally Social'. A day of booze, bikes, booze, burgers, booze, boogieing and more booze. It's going to be a blinding day! All the "b's" 🅱️
On the day we're starting off with a ride out around Sheffield where all riders are welcome. Even Benjamin will be hitching a ride on the back of D's hog to capture it! Then, back to the store for a good old knees up with a BBQ, tunes & much, much more. Including; top UK-based leather makers Barnes & Moore creating product in store and, one of tonight's gent's fave brands, Eat Dust making the trip from Belgium with their choppers AND a rail of sweet articles!
Moving onto tonight's 'Man Behind The Menswear' as he's one of the stores bros and he's perfect to tie in with Saturday. Eddie aka @eddie_beniston is a top bloke who loves his hard wearing clobber ALMOST as much as he loves his motorcycle. Ok, I might be over exaggerating there BUT he knows what he likes, clothes-wise, and you can tell from how his clothes sit on him.
"Don't let the clothes wear you" as Rob said on Tuesday. Eddie definitely doesn't!
Eddie is going to be there on Saturday, and we think you should be too, so think you owe it to yourselves to check out the event HERE.
I'm now going to hand over to Eddie as he gives us a little insight into how clobber fits into his lifestyle and how he manages to get raw denim on when he's permanently attached to his bike 😋 What a skill, eh guys?? Ha!
MEET THE MAN BEHIND THE MENSWEAR
NAME: Eddie Beniston AKA @eddiebeniston
LOCATION: Sheffield, UK
1. So Why Instagram?
I grew up with cameras and loved to take photos, Instagram is purely an outlet which also lets me keep in contact with friends overseas.
2. Why Denim, Boots, Workwear, Ruggedness?
My only transport too and from work or anywhere is my motorbike so I need decent clothes which can handle harsh weather conditions and stand the test of time. Everything I buy has it’s purpose.
3. What are your thoughts on the rise in popularity of “Instafashion” and the community it is creating?
Not one for “fashion” myself but aint nothing wrong with wearing well made long lasting clothing, found most companies through Instagram and word of mouth so it has it’s benefits. I guess there’s business aspects which come from it as well and you find similar people with similar tastes.
4. Top 3 brands to shop and why?
Had my Red Wing boots for years now, put over 40,000 miles on them, had a shovelhead kicker arm snap straight up my boot and cut into the first layer and they’re still going strong.
Eat Dust, just got a new pair of Bloodline jeans to ride in for the next few years. The cut/jacket I’ve had for years has took a beating but is still as durable as the day I bought it, I want denim that will last and not rip at the seams after the first few days and the guys behind Eat Dust hit the nail on the head with this one.
5. Where’s your favourite place to shop these brands?
Online or at Clobber (it’s local).
6. When did you decide to voice and share your love for your threads on social media?
~ Not really applicable ~
7. What’s the secret behind your great images; Who takes them? When are they taken? How do you capture the magic your followers enjoy so much?
I’ve got a bunch of 35mm cameras my friends donated to me I like to shoot with time to time but in regards to on IG it’s usually directly from my phone. I rarely take photos of myself just of what I see when i’m out on the bike. Haha honestly don’t know why people like the pictures I take, it’s usually a dirty bike or me covered in dirt on dirty roads. If that’s your jam.
8. What feeds do you like to follow and check in on? Who should we check out?
I follow like 1200 or so usually to do with bikes, naked women, old american muscle cars and dogs.
9. What tips would you give new starters on Instagram to help them get there feed off the ground and successful?
~ Not really applicable ~
10. And Lucky Last, You’re going to be stranded on a desert island, you can take 1 outfit (4 items) and 1 drink ONLY with you.
What would they be? Who made them? Why are you taking them?
- Playboy sandals
- Playboy print shorts
- Cowboy hat by stetson
- Budweiser vest top by Budweiser
My drink of choice would be Glenlivet 1969 single malt scotch whisky, good year and it would get me leathered.
Why? Well if I’m stranded I might as well go out in style.
Sweeeeet! Cheers Eddie, who turned that interview around in 2 days...great going mate. If you guys ride your bikes that fast I'm worried for Ben on Saturday!! Really good though man BUT I've, actually, got another question for all you clobber & bike enthusiasts...
...if Arnie asked YOU "I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle", which would you find easiest to part with? Answers on a postcard!
And, with that, I'm outta here to go prepare the playlist for the weekend...any suggestions? It's all happening! Hopefully see some of you guys at some point Fri/Sat, NOT Sun as I'll be sleeping and that'd be weird 😬
Peace and love
