Hello people.

Dudes…it’s Thursday which means it’s Friday tomorrow BERRRRTTTTTT! Before that it’s time for the 10@10.

We love mixing it up with the brands on a Monday but always prefer hosting the dudes on a Thursday. It’s grass roots. This week is, of course, no exception as we chatted to Jeroen aka @jeroenbredewold.

An ambassador for @levis_nl and the Co-Founder of Blue Roots Official, brother Jeroen is one of those guys that has great fucking hair…the bugger! Good hair is such a good attribute to have?! Double that up with triple denim and BOOM you’ve got a denim head wannabe’s wet dream!

Swing by his feed @jeroenbredewold, swing by his site @bluerootsofficial and stick around to hear his thoughts below as denim bro Jeroen answers the @clobbercalm 10@10.

NAME: Jeroen Bredewold aka @jeroenbredewold
AGE: 23
LOCATION: Amsterdam, The Netherlands
OCCUPATION: Full-time Sales Advisor & Tailor Ambassador for Levis NL, Brand-Ambassador for @ironandstitch & Owner/Blogger at @bluerootsofficial, a dutch only denim blog which @koenkuik& I started about a year ago to get the denim scene in Holland even bigger and better educated about denim.

1. So Why Instagram?

Well…which started as a joke and being bored while travelling became a small hobby aside. Probably how many others started with Instagram. Now a few years later I’ve met so many inspiring people which now became friends or colleagues. Not only back here in Amsterdam but across the globe! Started with no knowledge at all about Denim, Boots & everything attached, but just by asking around and reading alot on Instagram and online blogs you learn so so much. Nowadays it’s the other way around, people are sending me messages with questions about these subjects. So without Instagram I guess I wouldn’t be where i am right now. (Even though that sounds so weird)

2. Why Denim, Boots, Workwear, Ruggedness?

I started working in a clothing store for men without any knowledge. But almost directly a colleague of mine started talking about Selvedge denim & everything around it so I started to read, and read and read, and became so interested in the whole denim scene. Even a year after that very first moment I met Sven Signe Den Hartogh which was the founder of The Stranded Sailors which some of you guys might remember. Unfortunately it stopped and a year later @bluerootsofficial was founded. But why do I love these items? Because it’s all how it’s meant to be. Rough jeans & rough boots. Without any stretch or wearing it for half a year and it falls apart. Nope, instead it’s getting better and better with time!

3. What are your thoughts on the rise in popularity of “Instafashion” and the community it is creating?

If we see ourselves as “Instafashion” as well I’m happy it’s getting bigger & bigger! The more people the more fun it is. On the opposite side stores like H&M are also producing low-quality selvedge jeans…so yeah…but anyway, I love the whole denim scene because people meet each other through it and become friends and share their knowledge and interests.

4. Top 3 brands to shop and why?

1. Levi Strauss & Co. because it’s the first denim brand ever & of course, as you could read I work for Levi’s!

2. Red Wing Heritage. For me the best boot there is out there.

3. Nudie Jeans. It was the first denim brand with fits which were perfect on me, and my first ever dry selvedge was a NJ & co Grim Tim.

5. Where’s your favourite place to shop these brands?

Amsterdam. You can find almost every brand in this beautiful city, and otherwise online.

6. When did you decide to voice and share your love for your threads on social media?

It started as a joke so it wasnt just a decision, it grew within the years and was quite naturally to share this with others because so many people helped me. So I wanted to do the same. And now especially with Blue Roots Official it’s growing even bigger and bigger.

7. What’s the secret behind your great images; Who takes them? When are they taken? How do you capture the magic your followers enjoy so much?

Well…it’s just wherever I am at that moment and feel like capturing a picture, almost all of my own are taken by my iPhone 6, unless the description says otherwise. A lot of talented friends took quite a bunch of them! I think my followers like it because it’s just what it is. Denim, Accessories & Boots.

 8. What feeds do you like to follow and check in on? Who should we check out?

I mostly follow denim related feeds to get inspiration. There are a lot I would recommend to follow! Where to start?!

@koenkuik, @hansjellema, @jasonvanpul & @bluerootsofficial! Next to those I would say @selvedge1, @andreasbergstrom83, @vorstenbos, @bvo_66 just to name a few. And I could go on like this for another hour!

9. What tips would you give new starters on Instagram to help them get there feed off the ground and successful?

Post whatever you like and find out what kind of layout works the best for you. For some the crotch pictures work, for another the ‘from where I stand’ pictures and so on and so on…just try out some stuff. And of course follow the bigger profiles but don’t just copy/paste theirs but try to get your own vibe. Even though every style is already used every account has his or her own feeling. Figure out what makes you, you.

10. And Lucky Last, You’re going to be stranded on a desert island, you can take 1 outfit (4 items) and 1 drink ONLY with you.

What would they be? Who made them? Why are you taking them?

Our own Blue Roots Tee, which we created ourselves. My new pair of Made & Crafted Japanese black selvedge which is quite lightweight and made by Levi’s. Ray-Ban black Wayfarers and my favorite pair of Red Wings, the Moc Toe Oro Legacy.

I would go for a bottle of whiskey, preferably a Finlaggan Islay single malt scotch whiskey (cask strength). Why? Cuz that’s my favorite outfit at the moment & if you’re on your own on an island you could use a good strong whiskey!

Told ya. Jeroen is a true blue blood and an avid member/contributor to our global denim community. It’s been awesome having you on here brother and it would be awesome for a @clobbercalm x @bluerootsofficial hook up sometime on a project? Let me know if you fancy the idea bro!

Anyways, moving on and next Monday we see our brand hit focus on Jess. Ahhh the lovely Jess, the founder/owner/BIG cheese at @aegishandcraft. In fact all next week is Jess week! Yup, we will cover her awesome one-woman brand on Monday and follow it up with the first ever ‘Women Behind The Menswear’. She’s a tip-top chick who’s rocking it better than most blokes in the blue blooded denim world so she gets a full fucking week here @clobbercalm.

Make sure you swing by chaps as there will be plenty to learn and read about as Jess manufactures many raw denim products that are built to outlast their owners and designed to sit alongside even the sharpest of street denim culture! It’ll be a great week…

In the meantime enjoy your weekend folks and check out the links below!
