WHO MADE YOUR CLOBBER?

Hello people.

So, clobber-calm's roots lie within vintage clothing with our awesome founder Ben growing his passion and knowledge for quality garments through his experience working at a vintage wholesale company. Being able to recognise a well made garment is a major consideration in the buying and curating of stock at clobber-calm supply co. but even more than this we are buying into the incredibly talented designers and makers behind the brands.

We want to celebrate these amazing people and their skills by supporting Fashion Revolution and by finding out who makes our clobber. Fashion Revolution is a global, not for profit organisation that was established on the 1 year anniversary of the Rana Plaza clothing factory collapse in Bangladesh. It aims to promote transparency throughout the fashion industry to raise awareness around the big issues such as modern slavery, living wages, safe working conditions and environmental impact.

Knowing where your clothes are made, and by who, is really important as it helps to eliminate bad practices and raises awareness to areas and brands that are not being fully open with how they are manufacturing their goods and may not be working to required standards.

Here at clobber-calm we believe garments can be an investment piece that should last a long time…where possible, a lifetime. Even being handed down and repaired along the way to help reduce waste and reduce resource usage. Wear, care, repair and repeat is not a new concept but one that is not being practiced as widely in recent times. We hope that the high quality craftsmanship of our products will inspire people to adopt this philosophy and they can create their own wear patterns that can show the journey of a well loved pair of jeans.

Being a small independent store we love having a close relationship with a lot of our makers and we want to share their stories. We asked if we could celebrate them by taking part and showing support to fashion revolution week and we asked them ‘#whomademyclothes/accessories’. Here are some great images that show the people behind some of our brands. Check out https://www.fashionrevolution.org/ to see more info and see how you can get involved.

Today Tricker's boots and shoes are known for their exacting quality, incomparable comfort, individuality and irreproachable character.
